Logan Airport to downtown Boston
Three good options leave from the terminal curbs. Here is which one to take, how long it takes and what to watch for.
Quick answer: For South Station and the Seaport, take the Silver Line SL1 bus from the arrivals level of your terminal. It takes about 17-25 minutes and comes every 8-12 minutes. For Aquarium, State or Government Center, take a Massport shuttle bus to Airport station, then the Blue Line toward Bowdoin, about 4-8 minutes on the train.
Option 1: Silver Line SL1 to South Station
This is the simplest choice if you have bags, because it is one bus with no transfer.
- Follow the signs to the arrivals level of your terminal.
- Find the SL1 stop at the curb. The bus stops at Terminals A, B (two stops), C and E.
- Board a bus marked South Station.
- The bus stops at Silver Line Way, World Trade Center and Courthouse in the Seaport, then at South Station.
- At South Station you can change to the Red Line, the Commuter Rail or Amtrak.
The ride takes about 17-25 minutes, depending on your terminal and traffic. A few late-night trips end at Summer Street and Atlantic Avenue, next to South Station.
Option 2: Shuttle bus and the Blue Line
This is the better choice for Aquarium, State or Government Center, or if you want to change to the Orange or Green Line.
- At the arrivals level, take a Massport shuttle bus to Airport station. On the current schedule, Massport shuttle routes 22, 33, 55, 66 and 88 make this trip, and a shuttle comes every few minutes. The ride is about 4-8 minutes.
- At Airport station, take the Blue Line toward Bowdoin.
- Aquarium is about 4-5 minutes away, State about 5-6 minutes and Government Center about 6-8 minutes.
- Change at State for the Orange Line, or at Government Center for the Green Line.
Blue Line trains come about every 4-6 minutes on weekdays and about every 7-9 minutes on weekends.
Option 3: Logan Express to Back Bay
The Back Bay Logan Express bus picks up at the Logan Express stops on the arrivals level of each terminal. On the fall 2026 schedule it runs about every 30 minutes, from about 6 am to 10 pm, every day. The scheduled ride to Stuart Street at Dartmouth Street, by Back Bay station, is about 15 minutes. The last stop is 800 Boylston Street.
Weekdays only: the ferry from Logan
MBTA ferries also leave the Logan Airport ferry dock for Long Wharf and Central Wharf, near the Aquarium. On the fall 2026 schedule they run on weekdays only, mostly in the afternoon and evening, and take about 10-25 minutes. Massport shuttle 66 goes to the dock.
