South Station to Fenway Park
Two routes work well: the subway to Kenmore, or a short Commuter Rail ride to Lansdowne, next to the park.
Quick answer: Take the Red Line toward Alewife two stops to Park Street, then any Green Line B, C or D train to Kenmore. From Kenmore, Fenway Park is about a 7-minute walk. The whole trip takes about 30-35 minutes, and trains come every few minutes.
Step by step: Red Line and Green Line
- At South Station, take the Red Line toward Alewife. Trains toward Ashmont or Braintree go the other way.
- Ride two stops, Downtown Crossing and then Park Street. It takes about 3-4 minutes.
- At Park Street, change to a westbound Green Line train toward Boston College (B), Cleveland Circle (C) or Riverside (D). Don't take an E train. It doesn't go to Kenmore.
- Ride about 11-14 minutes, through Boylston, Arlington, Copley and Hynes Convention Center.
- Get to the door after Hynes Convention Center, and get off at Kenmore.
- Walk about 7 minutes to Fenway Park.
Red Line trains run about every 4-6 minutes on weekdays and about every 6 minutes on weekends. With three Green Line branches sharing the tracks, a train to Kenmore comes every few minutes.
Faster when it lines up: Commuter Rail to Lansdowne
Framingham/Worcester Line trains leave South Station, stop at Back Bay and reach Lansdowne in about 10-11 minutes. Lansdowne is about a 6-minute walk from the park. The catch is frequency: about one train an hour on weekdays outside rush hour, more at rush hour, and about one every 2 hours on weekends. Cobblehop compares both routes and shows you whichever gets you there first.

- Subway. $2.40 one way. That covers the Red Line and the change to the Green Line at Park Street.
- How to pay. Tap a contactless credit or debit card, phone or watch at the fare gate, or use a CharlieCard or CharlieTicket.
- Commuter Rail to Lansdowne. Lansdowne is in Zone 1A, so it's also $2.40. Tap-to-pay doesn't work on the Commuter Rail. Buy a ticket on the mTicket app or at a fare machine or ticket window in South Station. You can pay the conductor instead, but that can add a $3 fee when you board at a station that sells tickets.
- Kids. Children 11 and under ride free, per the MBTA.

Game days and big events at Fenway
- Kenmore gets very busy before and after games and concerts. Arrive early, and expect a wait to get into the station afterward.
- After the event, it can be easier to walk to Hynes Convention Center or Fenway station and board there.
- If you're taking the Commuter Rail home, check your train time before the event ends. Trains from Lansdowne are far apart.
- Start a live ride and turn on the buzz. On a packed train it's hard to see the station signs.
Going back to South Station late
